Data Protection

§ 4f of the German Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz - BDSG) provides that any non-public authority (company) which collects, processes or uses data automatically and which in the course thereof employs more than nine employees, shall appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO). The said Data Protection Officer must possess the requisite technical qualification and dependability necessary to perform his duties.

As specialist in the field of private banking and the environment in which it operates GDB is also totally familiar with all data protection questions typical in the sector - and far beyond the statutory requirements as well. Hence it can offer a wide range of services in this area:

  • Acceptance of the Data Protection Officer mandate (already the case with some 30 banks and IT service providers).
  • Support and consultancy in all specifically bank-related data protection questions, including training of internal Data Protection Officers
  • Performance of data protection audits

In addition GDB organises data protection training courses to enable the DPO to obtain the necessary specialist knowledge including continuative and practical banking topics.
